In the realm of entertainment there are certain works that completely shatter the norm and take things to another level. A movie like The Matrix was able to bend our minds and take us behind the curtains of reality, while a game like GTA3 allowed us to head into dark back alleys and interact with all of the parts of a game that used to just be unplayable background noise. And now once again we've come to a point where augmented and virtual reality have completely changed how we see things with our eyes, but not until experiencing Everything has a game changed how we perceive things with our minds.
Part existential philosophy but very much so still an interactive video game, Everything has NO boundaries big or small...
The game allows you to interact and explore the interactions of, well.. everything… from the tiny molecules that make up a bug, to the planets that make up a galaxy. This zoom in/out character mode allows you to actively switch from a cow to a planet to a tardigrade in just a few gestures as you're able to see how each of them effects the environment around them.
Brainchild of creator David O’Reilly, Everything is a self-funded project of over 3 years in the making. Using the philosophical outlooks of some of the greatest minds in history from Marcus Aurelius to Ralph Waldo Emerson, the game is a beautiful mix of showing both the absolutely playful side of things as well as the seriously complex relations that exist everywhere. There is also narration by Alan Watts, who is short of none in the ability to enlighten and inspire on endless levels.
Available for streaming gameplay on PS4, Mac/PC/Linux.
In seeking solidarity, we find unity; and in working together, we find harmony.
For this is not about tearing down, but about building up.
To think or not to think? That is the question.
To question or not to question. That is to think.
